Hiring an Orange County wedding band isn't necessarily a difficult process but it's one that, as the consumer or the bride or groom to be, you'll want to take your time with it be as thorough as possible. There a lot of things to consider before you settle on or hire any one Orange County wedding band and the following list of frequently asked questions should be asked of yourself and the band when you go to interview with a band. Asking these questions will help you determine which Orange County wedding band is right for you.

Do you have videotapes of your performances that I can view?

Any band worth anything at all should have some type of videotaped or recorded performance for you to view during the interview process. While audio samples are nice and give you an idea of musicianship and style it's a video that can show you what kind of energy an Orange County wedding band has.

What size band should I hire?

This is a question you should ask yourself well before you interview a band. While some Orange County wedding bands are very large and some are very small there are many out there who are more than willing to modify their band size in order to accommodate your needs. You'll need a band that can not only be accommodated by the venue at which are wedding will be held at but one that doesn't overshadow your reception or your ceremony as well.

Aside from music what other skills and services do you offer?

This question should be one first you ask any band that you interview with. This is because an experienced Orange County wedding band will be well-versed in the flow of events at weddings and consider it their job to function as emcee and even director of your ceremony in between music and even during dinner. Look for Orange County wedding band that offers these types of services or include them in their package so that all your bases are covered.

How many breaks does your band take?

This is an important question to ask bands your interested in because it will determine if they are right for your event. Band to take extended breaks or frequent breaks will leave your wedding celebration with no music and no entertainment to speak of whatsoever. Band to take too few breaks may overwhelm the wedding party and guests. Look for bands that take no more than two breaks in a four-hour event.

Do I need to tell the band that I'm interested in what songs I want them to play?

While the most experienced Orange County wedding bands are extremely adept at knowing how to read crowds and adapt their playlists to match the scenarios at an event, the very best wedding bands will allow you to request a specific type or even types of music to be played at their event. Stay away from wedding bands that don't want your input or aren't prepared to take requests.

If I book a wedding band early will they be able to hold my date?

A) Believe it or not there are some Orange County wedding bands that will allow you to book them early but will tell you that they can't hold that date. Honoring a customer's early booking and crossing off that date on their calendar for each and every customer is the mark of a great wedding band. Be extremely wary of bands who don't guarantee that they'll be available on the date that you book them or want to book them. Additionally booking a wedding band early helps to ensure that the band you're interested in will be available on the date of your wedding so don't wait!
